The Lost Seas
Blacksun Villa is the name given to the grand mansion of the Shahram noble family, which is located in the heart of Tyr’s Noble Quarter. Most noble families maintain lavish estates on their lands outside Tyr and smaller townhouses within the city; the Shahram family, on the other hand, keep only a small villa on their lands outside Tyr and instead have concentrated their family’s wealth in a fabulous city home.
The house once sat on a high hill overlooking all of Tyr; now, however, nearby buildings tower over it. The house has not sunk; on the contrary, as Tyr has been built up, razed, and built up again over time, the city has risen around the ancient villa.
Blacksun Villa is famous—or notorious—for its decadent parties, many of which would not be out of place in famously debauched Nibenay. The Shahrams and their servants wear featureless white masks, differentiated only by the color of their robes—orange for the Shahrams, black for the servants. Attendees are given luxurious intoxicants and amusements such as puff-creants, sugarcane sticks, and even cups of ice while they pass the time in the villa’s gardens, library, main hall, or famous Organarium. Its notoriety also comes from the whispers that circulate among the common folk of Tyr—whispers that the Shahrams are more a cult than a family, whispers of strange chanting and screams coming from the mansion deep in the night, whispers of robes and masks and rituals. Then again, those could all just be the mark of some really great parties.
