The Lost Seas
The True is an underground organization devoted to effecting the return of Kalak, the slain tyrant of Tyr. Some say they mean to achieve their goal through the use of dark magicks to return the sorcerer-king to life; others whisper that Kalak never really died, and was carried off by his underlings after being grievously wounded by Rikus’ spear, and that the Heroes (Agis, Tithian, Rikus, Neeva, and Sadira) or the Veiled Alliance contrived a story about finishing him off in the bowels of the ziggurat in order to enable a clean transfer of power.
After taking power, King Tithian had many of Kalak’s former templars—those who did not join the revolution—imprisoned, as well as nobles like the Prask family (who were vocal supporters of Kalak). Some eventually swore loyalty to King Tithian and were released; others remain in the bowels of Tyr’s dungeons. Some slipped the noose and were never captured at all. It is believed that these former templars form the core of the True, assisted secretly by nobles embittered by the loss of their slave wealth due to the First Edict and the creeping egalitarianism of Tyrian society. Estates of True-affiliated nobles and templars were seized and redistributed—for example, Kolkhaz Qarbjanoob, which is located on the site of the Prask estate.
In the year since the assassination of Kalak, rumors of spread of periodic attacks committed by the True: robberies, nighttime assaults, child murders, and other attempts to stir up trouble in Tyr. Little concrete information is available about their crimes, though, suggesting that King Tithian may be downplaying the events so as not to panic the populace.
